Letter From Jesse
Hello and welcome to Mindset for Excellence!
I have ONE GOAL:
Provide you with the skills, strategies, and resources to train the most important factor for success: Your Mind.
My job is to help you refine and develop the perspectives that top performers use everyday to perform at their best.
I have been fortunate enough to work with – and learn from –athletes, soldiers, and high performers of all ages and skill levels over the past 20 years. Past clients have included professional, Olympic, and NCAA athletes, World Series winners and NBA lottery picks, U.S. Army Rangers and Special Forces Soldiers, Athletic Directors, CEOs and business leaders, youth athletes and parents, and the occasional Weekend Warriors.
I was the Mental Skills Coordinator for the 2017 World Series and 2019 & 2021 American League Champion Houston Astros. Prior to working in Major League Baseball, I spent four years working with United States Soldiers as a Lead Master Resilience Trainer – Performance Expert at the Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness (CSF2) Training Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. While there, I provided resilience, sport, and performance psychology training to Soldiers, family members, and DA Civilians all over the world. As a result, members of the Army family were better able to cope with adversity, perform better in stressful situations, and thrive on and off the battlefield.
I have a Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology & M.A. in Counseling from West Virginia University, an M.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences from Ithaca College, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. Professionally, I am a member of the American Psychological Association, a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology and am listed on the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.
Combining my coaching and athletic experiences at the amateur, collegiate, and professional levels with a strong education and training background from top-ranked graduate programs in the field of Sport and Performance Psychology, I will provide you with a world-class mental training experience. After working with me, you will be better equipped to leverage the most powerful tool we have and be better prepared to perform when it matters most!
